LENA is a powerful new play with music by Tim Whitnall recounting the true story of Scottish singing sensation, LENA ZAVARONI. 1999. Twenty-five years after rocketing to overnight fame and fortune on the hit TV talent show “Opportunity Knocks”, Lena undergoes a surgical procedure which she believes will turn around her troubled life. In a hospital waiting room her father, Victor, retraces the steps that have led him and his precious daughter to this critical point. His revealing journey is one filled with triumph, tragedy, tears and laughter. With a five-strong cast plus a band of live musicians, “Lena” also features several show-stopping songs that ‘the wee yin’ made her own. The show is designed by award winning designer Becky Minto, lighting design is by Emma Jones, and musical direction by Matthew Brown. Super talented production manager Suzie Normand is on board with Katy Nicolson our fabulous stage manager.
